EVERY dog owner needs to know how to housetrain a puppy because if you don’t have a puppy now, you probably will again in the future
I recently interviewed expert dog trainer, Neri, all about Housebreaking 101 for our new member site.
Here’s a great tip from that interview:

I actually did this same thing when my dog was a puppy and it totally worked! It’s cool to have your dog pee on cue! Woohoo!
Perhaps I need to get out more…
tis a wonderful thing!
Sorry!!!! My error! How do you train a badly untrained or sort of semi-trained adult dog? I have three dogs and live in a flat with a huge balcony where I put down newspaper and my dogs sort of know to use it BUT there are many errors and I feel it must be my fault. i feel like I should start from scratch again with them but am a bit daunted! I do not want to do crate training but am getting a bit desperate – any ideas???
Many thanks
Regards
Beth
if you have tried and failed then get a professional trainer to spend an hour or 2 teaching YOU how to train your dogs, it will be money well spent
I followed this plan with all of my puppies at first using “go pee-pee” or “go poopie” (of course depending on what they were doing) Later encouraging them to finish up with whichever they hadn’t done & the “proper” words. As time went on, I didn’t want to use those descriptive words so I slowly changed the command to “take care of business”. This is good when you are in the house – the dog knows immediately what is expected of her and becomes excited to go outside.
This works very good when traveling – the dog knows what you want them to do & seems to be more appropriate than the begining words.
thanks for sharing
my dog is a 110 pound Great Pyrenees and I didnt have to train her, thank goodness. Can you imagine what surprises she would have left me? She is a rescue dog and probably the last dog I will have as I am 80 years old. However she is the best companion I could possibly have, bar none, except when she jumps into my bed every morning at 0700 hours. Sometimes she misses and gets me instead of the blank spot she aims for.
AS A “GO WORD” INSTEAD OF CARPE DEUM WE USE CARPE PEEUM MUCH BETTER THAN BANNANA!!!!!!
cute and cerebral at the same time!
I house train a dog in 1 day…I put the pup in her spot when I bring her home and wait for her to go then I take her there every two hours and after she eats…..during the night I set the alarm every two hours and take her to the spot…..on the second day the pup is looking to go out and by the third day most pups I have had are asking to go out…the last four pups I have had never once went in the house
I’m impressed
thnx
